Guided Meditation Step by Step

Learning this was imperative in the Repair Work on The Mexican Horse Thief’s psyche.    It  fits in so well with the article Scar Tissue.

 

Guided Meditation – Finding Soul Space:

Sit comfortably with your hands in your lap.

Close your eyes and be still.

Notice any thoughts that may run through your head, but don’t dwell on them.

Take a few deep breaths.

Take a few moments now to become fully aware of your body and what it is doing. Take as much time as you need to be fully aware of yourself.

Now picture yourself in a meadow.

Notice the beauty of your surroundings.

The trees are so peaceful.

The flowers are colorful.

There is a gentle breeze blowing through the soft green grass.

You are sitting on a rock, just drinking it all in.

Everything is peaceful and you can feel the warmth of the dappled sunlight through the trees on your skin.

In front of you is a large tree with a closed door in the trunk.

You sit quietly and notice it. Study its appearance for a little while.

Then, when you are ready, get up and approach it.

As you stand in front of the door, notice how your body feels.

When you are ready, step forward and open the door.

Inside the doorway you notice some steps leading downward.

The stairs are well-lit and you follow its winding path, spiraling lazily downward.

As you get nearer to the bottom of the stairs, you notice a bright light at the end of it.

You notice that you are nearing the light with each step and that you are descending into a cave.

You pause at the bottom of the stairs and take in the bright light in the cave in front of you.

Your cave is comfortable, airy and bright.

There is a fireplace on the far side with a couch in front of it.

There are blankets and cushions on the couch and it looks very comfortable and inviting.

As you walk towards the couch, take a moment to notice what the inside of the cave looks and feels like.

Stay there a while and just take it all in.

When you are ready, approach the couch and make yourself comfortable on it.

Feel the warmth of the fire on your body.

Lie back onto the couch and feel how it is supporting your body.

You are very comfortable here.

A feeling of peace, love and tranquility overcomes you.

There is no judgment here and in this space you are beautiful. You love and respect yourself.

Sitting here, you can simply just BE.

Just sit here and feel that.

Just be with it and take your time to fully experience these feelings.

At this moment, you are at peace.

You feel love well up inside of you for yourself and for the whole universe. This love fills up your entire being, until it is all that you are aware of.

Just stay with the peace and the love for a while.

You are in your Soul Space.

Pause

 

When you are ready, slowly sit upright on the couch and feel the warmth of the fire on your hands and your legs.

You are getting ready to leave.

Set the intention of carrying this peace and love back with you into your life.

Know that you can return to your cave where you are in Soul Space at any time you wish to.

Find the entrance to your cave and slowly start climbing back up the stairs.

Take your time and savor the moments as you pass the way you came, knowing that your cave is always there to welcome you back.

At the top of the stairs, step through the door and back into the daylight.

Take a few moments to experience the beauty of the meadow again and sit quietly on your rock and drink in the peaceful beauty of your surroundings.

When you are ready, bring yourself gently back to this room and to the chair you are sitting in.

Wriggle your toes and your fingers.

Take a deep breath and open your eyes.

Now that you have been to your Soul Space, you can return here any time you feel the need to, especially when you are working on inner conflict, or any issues that may need healing.
