One of my pet peeves is the religious posts that appear on my Facebook Newsfeed. Why? Because of the seemingly lack of knowledge, of their own Book by the people posting.
That they pray for this and pray for that and ask for an “Amen” particularly irks me. The first observation I made about prayer is that it is only answered if it is according to God’s will.
This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us. And if we know that he hears us-whatever we ask-we know that we have what we asked of him.
1 John 5:14-15
Okay, so what is God’s will? The way I see it is:
God and Satan had a bit of an argument about who was greater and could get get more followers, like a Facebook thing! Satan said he would and God accepted the challenge. Then God, who had a better army, threw Satan to earth, giving him a certain period of time, telling him that he, Satan, ruled the earth for this period of time. Jesus acknowledged this when Satan offered him the kingdoms of the world. Matthew 4:8-9. The way I see it everything bad that is happening in the world therefore, IS God’s will, according to Scripture. When the Devil fails, all will be nice again, until then? :Suck it up Buttercup!” If you are a Christian, stop prayer for things that are against God’s will! ( like world peace, rain etc, etc ad nauseum.) Please read Revelation 12:7-12, which is posted below for those too lazy to look up themselves. It is all to prove an egotistical point, and you are just a pawn it the game. I, for one, do not like this that much.
Please tell me if I am wrong with my understanding of the Book, which I have actually bothered to read, as few times, cover to cover.
Revelation 12:7-12New King James Version (NKJV)
Satan Thrown Out of Heaven
7 And war broke out in heaven: Michael and his angels fought with the dragon; and the dragon and his angels fought, 8 but they did not prevail, nor was a place found for them[a] in heaven any longer. 9 So the great dragon was cast out, that serpent of old, called the Devil and Satan, who deceives the whole world; he was cast to the earth, and his angels were cast out with him.
10 Then I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, “Now salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of His Christ have come, for the accuser of our brethren, who accused them before our God day and night, has been cast down. 11 And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, and they did not love their lives to the death. 12 Therefore rejoice, O heavens, and you who dwell in them! Woe to the inhabitants of the earth and the sea! For the devil has come down to you, having great wrath, because he knows that he has a short time.”
